Women & the Wind Foundation

We aim to be at the forefront of female adventurers fighting man-made problems through women-led initiatives.

Our mission is to facilitate women-led, environmentally-focused adventure projects through fiscal sponsorship, mentorship, community, sustainability counseling, and other resources.

We aim to highlight the importance of the journey as a main component to inspire creative work, allowing for fluidity in the outcome of a project.

Wind in the sails

As an organization, our purpose is to serve as the wind which will fill the figurative sails of individual projects. Meeting them where they are at, and propelling them as much as we can. We are not the ship, the captain, or the map. We are the momentum that helps the journey begin or keep going. Our job is to recognize promising women-led, high-risk eco-adventure projects and help them get moving — whether that means funding, visibility, structure, or encouragement. We meet each project at its own point of departure and do what we can to carry it further. But the wind is only as good as the sails it fills. We support projects that have already shown commitment, courage, and direction, matching their momentum with our own.

WOMEN AND THE WIND INC is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes in accordance with section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. These purposes include, but are not limited to, educating and empowering women/persons on self-sustainability, ocean and ecological conservation, by means of social action and the support or initiation of ocean and/or women-centered projects.
